Making Brass Pendant Light – Brass pendants are really popular these days and worn by both men and women. Although they are widely available in jewelry stores, there is no need to purchase them when they can be made at home. A custom brass pendant light can be made from brass wire. Brass wire can easily be bent and formed into any kind of shape imaginable. As a beginner, you can start with simple designs such as a heart design. You can even give the heart shaped pendant a few curves on the inside and wear it on a chain or beaded necklace. You can even bend brass wire to form initials. Perhaps, you can spell your name or the name of a loved one and wear it on a chain. Making brass pendants at home is affordable and safe because all you need to create shapes is a hammer, a mini torch, diagonal pliers and brass wire with an 18 inch diameter.

Here are the steps involved in making brass pendant light. From the length of brass wire, cut a piece that is about 6 inches in length. A pair of diagonal pliers can be used to cut brass wire. Depending on the shape you have chosen, you can bend the wire. In the beginning, you can expect some imperfections, because to become perfect you need to practice a lot. Another thing is that small imperfections will give your pendant character. Create something abstract by using your imagination. For example, you can bend the wire into a swirl and form a heart around the swirl with the remaining wire. If there are loose ends after you are done with the shape, cut them off with the pliers.

To flatten your brass pendant light, you can place it on a piece of wood and use a hammer to tap on it. You may need to apply soldering paste if you have wires touching other pieces of wire on the pendant. But, make sure that you use a toothpick to apply the paste at every intersection. Put your safety goggles on and light the torch. Holding the torch about 6 inches from your pendant, you can apply heat to the pendant so that the paste melts. Soldering paste will turn silver in color and run down along the joints of the wire as heat is applied. Once this is done, shut off the flame and allow your pendant to cool without touching it for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, you can use brass colored paint to cover the areas where it has turned silver. Your brass pendant is now ready and you can wear it on a chain or a beaded necklace.
